Continuing growth in key markets has led Smiley Monroe to invest in building an additional production centre at their Hub site in Lisburn, Northern Ireland which has led to the creation of new jobs.
This latest investment comes on the back of a record trading period, with the company reporting the highest sales figures since it’s foundation almost 40 years ago. Smiley Monroe’s customer base in the materials processing equipment manufacturing sector (OEMs) is benefiting from the recent global industry upturn, which has resulted in increased demand for Smiley Monroe’s core products – hot spliced Endless Conveyor Belts and Custom Parts. Chris Monroe, Smiley Monroe’s Sales Director, commented: “As our customers have become busier, their forecasted orders have increased, which is great news for us and our world class industry. We’ve also won new business in Europe and North America, hence the urgent requirement for additional production lines. Building the new production centre – which has been dubbed ‘Hub2’ – has allowed us to consolidate our Endless Conveyor Belt operation in one site at Knockmore Hill. This has streamlined our Endless Conveyor Belt manufacturing process, to ensure uninterrupted production for our customers.”
Housed in Hub2, a state-of-the-art waterjet cutting machine is adding value to Smiley Monroe’s Custom Parts offering by providing a smoother, more precise cut for the most challenging materials such as conveyor belting, wear rubber and polyurethane. With a Spring 2018 launch in the works, the entire Hub site has now been renovated and landscaped complete with solar panels and electric vehicle charge points, in line with the company’s aim to reduce its environmental impact.
