Hillhead – the world’s biggest working quarry show comes around every two years in June. Held near Buxton (UK) it’s something of a home crowd for Smiley Monroe and always attracts a large NI and GB contingent.

Hillhead is the perfect opportunity to catch up with our customers in a relaxed setting over the space of three days. The sunshine and World Cup fever only added to the very positive, upbeat atmosphere.

New Website Launched

‘We’ve been getting closer to our customers than ever before this year’ says Marketing Director, Tim Monroe. ‘We’ve spent more and more time visiting them, not just in Northern Ireland but in Europe, North America and India. We’ve even invested time in market research, asking our customers about their pain points and feedback during the buying process. The positives which kept coming up were our problem-solving skills and our strong customer relationships, but sometimes our technical knowledge wasn’t readily available or easy to find online.’

Using that feedback we designed a brand new website which puts the customer at the centre of the experience, making available more case studies, how-to videos and content than ever before – essentially building an online ‘Toolkit’ for our engineering customers. Our new website officially launched at the Hillhead show. Along with an improved user experience, new features include a ‘Toolkit’ which will house more in depth technical information and helpful resources including conveyor belt calculators. We’re the experts in what we do and as we grow it’s crucial that it remains easy to access the information customers need as efficiently as possible.

To celebrate this launch, we held a competition at Hillhead to win a Go Pro video camera. The lucky winner who logged onto the toolkit was our customer Matt Colgan from Concrete and Quarry Engineering Manufacturing Services (CQEMS) in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
